The idea for the SBPT came to light during a couples 4 person home game which started the ball rolling. Our first tournament was scheduled not too long after which was September 2004 and has been going each month since!
We are a group of recreational poker players that have been brought together over time through friends and friends of friends and because we were all brought together through friendship, we eat and drink and laugh and have a great time!
We play a once a month poker tournament. We have a points system which crowns a Tour Champion at the end on each Tour Year. We award trophies to the top three Tour Leaders at the end of the Tour Year and souvenir placement chips to the top four finishers plus a headhunter chip each tournament! The unique aspect to the SBPT is that the winner of each tournament hosts the next tournament and makes the tournament experience his or her own. Our trophy is our "Stanley Cup" and the winner takes it home until the next tournament. Throughout the month it's encouraged to take the trophy to events and hopefully get pictures with famous poker players or other cool people or things as you'll see in our trophy tracks page.
